A Day in the Life of an Astrologer: How Ceremonial Cacao and Astrology Fuel My Flow

Hi lovelies, I’m Alison Lasek an astrologer and Kundalini yoga teacher and it’s an honour to be here with you on the Grounded Cup blog, sharing about my life, work and self-care practices.

In this blog, I’ll share a behind-the-scenes look at my daily rhythm and how I work with Cacao and astrology to ground, open my heart and stay attuned to my life’s purpose.

I’ve found that having a morning ritual deeply nourishes my ability to hold space for others. It’s my anchor—a time to connect with my intuition and subtle cosmic energies. This is my sacred time, a space where I set the tone for the day ahead with Kundalini yoga, meditation, journaling, and, of course, Ceremonial Cacao.

Morning Rituals: Grounding and Connecting

My alarm goes off before sunrise. After some eye rolls from my cat (is it really time to get up?) and a few last cuddles, I hop out of bed and roll out my yoga mat. Right now, I’m living in a small apartment and often this is down the side of my bed! It’s a great reminder that your morning practice can happen anywhere.

I like to put on some mantra music as I make my Cacao. I cut just what I need from the block and mix it with filtered water. My skin is quite sensitive, so I avoid unnecessary toxins—just pure Cacao and clean water. I sip mindfully, listening to the music, feeling my breath, smelling and tasting the delicious Ceremonial Cacao and focusing on what I want to cultivate in my life.

Next, I move into my Kundalini yoga practice. I carefully choose a kriya (yoga set) to support me energetically based on what’s happening for me or the astrology of the moment. Sometimes it’s a practice for clarity, abundance or nervous system strength.

My cat often interrupts. He gets particularly vocal when I chant mantras, which always makes me laugh and not take things too seriously.

Tuning Into Intuition

After my yoga practice, I join an online group of students and teachers who are also practicing Kundalini yoga. Right now, we’re in the middle of a 40-day journey to break through self-imposed limits. There’s something magical about practicing alone and then meeting in community—the energy is amplified.

By this point, after the Kundalini yoga and the Ceremonial Cacao, I’m feeling grounded, expansive and connected to my intuition. It’s the perfect time to pull some tarot or oracle cards.

Even though I’m an astrologer by trade, I love working with the cards for myself and I’ll often bring some of my favourite decks to my special events, leaving cards under the mats of my attendees. They’re a tool for tuning in and hearing the quiet guidance of my inner teacher. I reflect on what each card might be telling me about the day ahead and journal on my intentions.

Astrology in Action: Creating Flow

Once I’ve finished journaling, I might make an Instagram reel if it feels in flow, record any voice memos for clients then make my way off my mat.

It’s time to move to my dining table for breakfast and to start preparing for my client readings. I pull up charts and make notes, tuning into each client’s unique cosmic blueprint and feeling into how I can best support them in our session.

Astrology is a beautiful tool for aligning your life with the energy of the moment. I often use it for my own planning, whether it’s choosing an auspicious day to launch a project, flowing with the moon phases, or harnessing a Jupiter transit for expansion.

During the day, cacao continues to support me. It’s my fuel and my anchor—helping me stay heart-centered, open and energised as I hold space for clients and tick off my to-do-list with great satisfaction.

Movement and Expansion

After a few hours at my desk, I definitely need to get outside! I hop on my bike and ride to Kundalini House, where I might teach a yoga class, lead a workshop, do my readings and marketing my offerings.

As someone who works closely with others—whether through yoga or astrology—holding space is a big part of my life. And this requires energy, presence and intuition.

Working with astrology and Ceremonial Grade Cacao helps me stay attuned to the energy I want to embody and share with others. Whether it’s a full moon circle, a private astrology reading, or a Kundalini yoga class, these tools allow me to hold space in a way that feels aligned, expansive and authentic.

Creating Your Own Ritual

If you’re curious about aligning your energy or want to explore the power of Cacao, why not create your own morning ritual?

It doesn’t have to be elaborate. Start small:

  • Prepare a cup of cacao and hold it at your heart centre.

  • Take a moment to set an intention, feeling it infusing into the Cacao at your heart.

  • Mindfully enjoy, feeling yourself embodying the energy of your intention with each sip.

  • Try a short meditation or journaling session. I love the Kundalini Yoga meditation for prosperity, which has brought so much abundance into my life. It’s so powerful it’s said doing more than 11 mins per day would make you too rich!

  • Take a moment in stillness to pause and breathe. Reflect on what you want to cultivate in your life (whether it’s abundance, clarity or connection) and get clear on one small step you could take to align with that energy.

With simple, consistent rituals, you can create a day—and a life—that feels grounded, heart-centered and in flow.
